Our beans support the indigenous people of the rain forest and also the Amazon itself.
In support of the plight of the Amazon, one of the solutions proposed to reduce deforestation rates is to promote production activity. This allows the generation of competitive incomes for the producers for wild craft activities which do not demand the transformation of rain forest lands for other uses. One of these activities is the gathering of wild cacao.
Commercially farmed cacao is hybridised into a smaller tree that produces significantly less nutrient dense and flavoursome beans. The advantage is large commercial orchards of single trees with easy to pick pods however the down side is the flavour and medicinal benefits of cacao is significantly reduced (think commercial grown hot house tomato vs home grown sun ripened organic one). It also doesn’t support sustainable agriculture.
Our beans are wild with an intense chocolate flavour and full of uncompromised nutritional benefits.
