Our Beans

Cacao Beans

Our beans support the indigenous people of the rain forest and also the Amazon itself.

In support of the plight of the Amazon, one of the solutions proposed to reduce deforestation rates is to promote production activity. This allows the generation of competitive incomes for the producers for wild craft activities which do not demand the transformation of rain forest lands for other uses. One of these activities is the gathering of wild cacao.

Commercially farmed cacao is hybridised into a smaller tree that produces significantly less nutrient dense and flavoursome beans. The advantage is large commercial orchards of single trees with easy to pick pods however the down side is the flavour and medicinal benefits of cacao is significantly reduced (think commercial grown hot house tomato vs home grown sun ripened organic one). It also doesn’t support sustainable agriculture.

Our beans are wild with an intense chocolate flavour and full of uncompromised nutritional benefits.

Raw Chocolate vs Conventional Chocolate

Stirring chocolate

All chocolate is not created equal. Organic, raw cacao reigns supreme with maximum nutrient content compared to its conventional counterpart. Since raw chocolate is processed at low temperatures, it retains much more of its famed nutritional value than if it were roasted and combined with sugar and milk. This is when the cacao loses its magic and becomes detrimental to your health.

The Legendary magical cacao bean has a long history of medicinal use throughout Mesoamerica and South America. Science has confirmed that chocolate has many favorable, unique qualities that support health and psychological well-being. This bean offers the greatest benefits when the cacao is high-quality, raw and organic.

The native people of the South America, the Mayan and Mexica religions believed cacao had divine heavenly origins. According to Mayan legend, after humans were created by the goddess Xmucane, the God Sovereign Plumed Serpent gave cacao to the Maya. The cacao bean was used as a source of currency.

The medicinal properties of cacao were noted to alleviate fever, anemia, poor appetite, mental fatigue, poor breast milk production, tuberculosis, gout, kidney stones and low virility. The delicious bean was famous for healing the nervous system and improving digestion and elimination.

Jump to the modern day and numerous studies celebrate the many virtues of chocolate. Research confirms that chocolate helps to relieve emotional stress. Stress hormones and stress-related biochemical agents were reduced when volunteers, who rated themselves as highly stressed, consumed 1.4 ounces of dark chocolate per day for a period of two weeks.

Cacao mass also contains potassium, phosphorus, copper, iron, zinc, and magnesium which contribute to cardiovascular health. Chocolate has the ability to trigger the release of dopamine and the endorphin phenylethylamine, both of which soothe the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and depression. Due to its high valeric acid content, cacao has stress relieving properties despite the presence of the stimulants theobromine and caffeine.

Raw cacao is an excellent way to enhance health while calming the heart, amplifying sensuality and enriching one's love life. Live your bliss and savor the wisdom of the ancients. Invigorate modern vitality with the many extraordinary traits of raw cacao.

About Chalice

Chalice

I have passion about Cacao, raw Cacao, I never liked chocolate until I was given a bar of raw chocolate. It was quite an experience, and I heard myself say yes you can make this (don’t you just love that inner guidance!)

I have developed a range of raw wild crafted chocolate bars. The beans are two of the original strain of cacao grown in the Amazon, and harvested by the local people. The Wild Heart chocolate also contains Lasavia Essences, as raw cacao is a perpetuator, this means that it is absorbed deeply into the cells of the body, what a way to indulge. I also offer ceremony and rituals using this wondrous medicine, combined with Lasavia essences and wild herbs the elixirs are a fabulous heart opening experience. Actually eating the bars alone also offers that experience!

Shamanic Healer, Group Facilitator, Organic Gardener

To describe my life and work I received a vision. In this vision I saw a mountain. Initially all I wanted was just to get to the top, running, jumping over the hurdles on the way, giving me a sense that I was winning, I had conquered that obstacle with speed and ease. I would then run down the other side with such a sense of relief, deep love and freedom of life until another mountain presented itself. Strangely the same obstacles appeared, this time a bit harder to get over, but over I went, the top was my focus and the rush of heading downhill. This pattern repeated itself, until one day I was at the bottom, utterly exhausted I could not face the top, and the journey there, my heart just wasn’t in it anymore.

Something had changed, I wanted to meander, look around, feel my way into the mountainside, I really didn’t know anything about her, I just wanted to explore, to know her, to listen, hear her stories. I wanted a relationship that allowed it all, not just the bits that felt like I was winning.

In my work as a healer, I offer space for you to explore your mountainside that is your life, your relationship to spirit and earth. I work deeply with Nature and the elemental life that connects us to our physical body, our joy and our purpose. My intention is to support you in uncovering your intuitive sense, your beauty and your magic.

I am trained as a shamanic practitioner, having worked with Leila Lees for the last 7 years. My work involves shamanic journeying, nature connection, plant spirit medicine, and Lasavia Vibrational essences. Then of course Cacao!

In the Lasavia Courses and group work I facilitate holding space in sacred circle. We work co creatively and I continued to be humbled by the incredible shifts that occur using this ancient way of communicating. This work is the most dynamic process I have experienced. Please refer to the following link for more information on this. I welcome you.
